The President of the Slovak Republic visited Pliešovce
On 24 September 2011 celebration of St. Hubert´s day took place in Pliešovce. The event was organized by the municipality Pliešovce in cooperation with the state-owned enterprise Military forests and Estates SR and OKO SPZ ZVOLEN. Great honor for us was that this action was also attended by His Excellency Mr. President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič. After welcoming by the citizens of the village Pliešovce with bread and salt, Mr. President, accompanied by the mayor of Pliešovce Ing. Štefan Sýkora and General Director of Military forests and Estates SR, Ing. Ján Jurica, moved to the main stage, where they attended St. Hubert tribute to hunted game, thus ecumenical ceremony. Ceremony was followed by dubbing a deer hunter by the actors of the fencing club in old-time costumes. Later, Mr. President with his entourage went to see the exhibits of crafts, falconry presentation, activities of our forestry teachers, but also stands of the contestants for the Challenge Cup of "St. Hubert spoon". International scientific - technical conference
On 19th - 20th October 2011, an international scientific - technical conference was organized under the auspices of President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič called ADVANCED PROCESSING PROCEDURES OF INCIDENTAL TIMBER HARVESTING.
The main organizer of the conference was the Technical University in Zvolen, Faculty of Forestry, Department of forest timber extraction and mechanization, and the Department of forest management in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, the state-owned enterprises of the Military Forests and Estates of SR and Forests of SR, and University forest enterprise.
The first day of the conference took place on the soil of the Technical University in Zvolen, where many expert presentations from representatives of the forestry institutions were presented. The central theme was clearly resulting from the conference title, which is due to the continuing bark beetles disaster and the current state of spruce still actual. Consolidated knowledge and experience of foresters from various forestry institutions in the woods in different natural conditions, but with the same problem - calamity. It was devoted to classical and progressive methods and technologies of processing the "calamity wood."
The next day was organized as excursion training in forest management unit "Sklené", a subordinate branch of Military Forests and Estates of SR, Forest management Pliešovce in Turčianske Teplice district. Here, the conference participants had the opportunity to see the stands after processing a random location after extraction and subsequent use of graphic recording of incidental felling. Participants were acquainted with arising quantitative indicators, the development of incidental felling on the LHC from 2006 to the present as well as the management procedure for processing accidental extraction.

A few words about us
Current VLM SR have arisen after the split of Czechoslovakia in the year 1993 with the seat in Pliešovce. The company was established for the effective and ecological needs of forest and farmland management in the army military training areas of Slovakia.
The company manages the area of 72 800 ha of forest land with an annual extraction of about 300,000 m3. It Consists of three branch plants: Malacky, Kezmarok, Kamenica nad Cirochou and Forest Management in Pliešovce.
To fulfil its mission it´s developing a sustainable way of farming as an essential strategic priority. With the help of modern technologies it seeks to achieve economic viability, by keeping the condition of preservation and raising of protective and universal functions of forest ecosystems and their protection against harmful factors. It improves the gene pool of forests plants and supports the natural regeneration. In the long term it achieves the top results in breeding and hunting wildlife.
