Energy and Electromobility

Military Forests and Estates of the Slovak Republic, SOE, launched their first photovoltaic power plant in 2015. It was installed at an administrative building in Podolínec, branch office Kežmarok. Since then, we have managed to install and put into operation another 7 power plants at different service buildings.

The installed photovoltaic power plant on the roof of the branch office Kežmarok, based in Podolínec. It consists of 30 pieces of photovoltaic panels with an area of 48.8 m2 and an installed capacity of 7.5 kW. The power plant is complemented by a battery module with a capacity of 10 kW. We arrived at the values of the installed capacity after the analysis of the energy consumption of the office building under load (working hours) as well as in the so-called stand-by mode. The actual start of the power plant took place on 18 November 2015 after a functional test of the connected equipment.

PV power plant Production (MWh) CO2 savings (t)
Pliešovce 71,3 97,6
Podolínec 37,83 44,26
Kamenica n/Cirochou 24,17 28,28
Obora 1 13,65 15,97
Obora 2 14,2 16,61
Zálomka 4,9 5,73
Jovsa 9,99 11,69
Total 176,04 220,14

Since the installed capacity can produce electricity during full operation beyond the immediate consumption, the solution with storage in the battery module is the optimal solution for the need of its consumption later, if, in the case of Podolínec and Kamenica nad Cirochou, the battery modules are fully charged, the energy is distributed into the public distribution network. Therefore it was necessary to register the power plant at the Office for the Regulation of Network Industries (ÚRSO). ÚRSO registered our first power plant and issued Confirmation no. 062/2016 / E-PT on the fulfilment of the notification obligation in accordance with § 6 par. 5 of Act 251/2012 Coll. on energy and as amended. In accordance with the said Act, Military Forests and Estates of the Slovak Republic, SEO, became eligible to do business in the energy sector, thus expanding their business portfolio. At the same time, in accordance with § 7 par. 2, 3 and 7 of Act 309/2009 Coll. on the support of renewable energy sources and highly efficient cogeneration and as amended, ÚRSO issued a confirmation for our facilities for the period of 2015 to 2030 on the origin of electricity from renewable energy sources. This fact supports our intention to pursue the use of energy from renewable sources after the earlier production of heat using wood chips, which we produce ourselves.

Všetky moderné technológie úzko súvisia s informačnými technológiami a fotovoltaická elektráreň nie je výnimkou. Tento systém je plne manažovaný prostredníctvom portálu solarweb, kde užívateľ dostáva okamžitú informáciu o výkone elektrárne, spotrebe záťaže, dobití batériových modulov a o dodávke do verejnej distribučnej siete. Systém zaznamenáva a archivuje všetky uvedené dáta a pre potreby back office odosiela mesačnú zostavu produkcie. Vyššie spomenuté dimenzovanie výkonov prebehlo na základe analýzy spotreby, dnes vieme na základe informácií podporného softvéru povedať, že inštalovaný výkon sledovaných elektrárni je plne postačujúci a dokáže zabezpečiť minimálne 60 percentnú sebestačnosť pokrytia spotreby.

Military Forests and Estates of the Slovak Republic, SOE, used the first electric car as soon as in January 2018. The idea of such transport and use of the electric car as a reference vehicle is in the conditions of MFE SR, SOE, supported by a long-term use of photovoltaic power plants. The comprehensive solution is complemented by a network of our own charging stations. We charge vehicles most of the year with our own green electricity. Smart charging stations provide us with an overview of the cost and efficiency of electrical transport.

At the end of 2018, the electric car fleet expanded by another three cars, so that currently each branch office is using one of them. We are convinced that we were pioneers of electromobility in the conditions of a forestry company and we have fulfilled the slogan "Protecting the future". The operation of electric cars and photovoltaic power plants is one of our main ideas in securing sustainable resources and contributes to the protection of the environment as well as to our green-related management of the forest.
